"An information highway for victims of domestic abuse."™
October 1, 2013 NATIONAL UNITY DAY
Men speaking out against domestic violence
What is the White Ribbon Campaign?
The focus of the campaign is to educate men and boys about domestic violence and its effects on our families and communities.
What does it mean to wear a white ribbon?
Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls. Wearing a white ribbon is a way of saying, “Our Future has no place for domestic violence in any form”.
October is domestic violence awareness month. Our goal is to identify several barbershops in the community to participate in this program. Each barbershop will be given the educational materials and white ribbons provided by the Ina Mae Greene Foundation. We will encourage adult men in the community to bring their sons, grandsons, nephews, wards, etc. to the barbershop on the day designated. Each patron will be approached in the barbershop and given material about domestic violence awareness. We will have one headquarter barbershop where we will do live call-ins, talking to the patrons about domestic violence.
